Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (GENERIC)

The Bachelorette degree in Nursing comprises of 137 credit hours and extends over four academic years of full-time study.

Core - 88 Credits
Cognates - 19 Credits
General Education - 30 Credits

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (RN-BSc)

Total credits to be taken depends on transfer credits. This programme has been approved by the Nursing Council of Jamaica. It uses the National Curriculum guidelines of the Ministry of Health in conjunction with the University’s liberal arts infusion. Eligible senior (fourth) year students write the RENR,which qualifies them to practice in any of the CARICOM country. Passing the RENR enable graduates to be eligible to sit the licensure examinations in the United States,United Kingdom, Canada and other parts of the world. Competency is achieved throughtheoretical instruction and clinical practise. The courses are designed to emphasize the professional roles, legal responsibilities, the use of critical thinking juxtaposed withevidence - based practice. To provide the necessary diversity of clinical experiences,students are assigned to all the types of health centers (1– 5) and hospitals (Types A-C).
